For Entrepreneurs & Small Business
Your business shouldn't have to live in your head.
For solo business owners and small teams who want clarity and calm, not more tools to manage. Bakari helps you build digital systems that hold your work together, so you don’t have to hold it together with willpower and memory.
Running a business solo means everything runs through you.
You remember which folder the contract is in. You remember which client said what, when. You remember the password, the supplier, the date the invoice is due. Your business doesn’t have a knowledge base — it has you.
That works, until it doesn’t.
- Maybe you've stopped taking real time off because nothing runs without you.
- Maybe you've considered hiring someone but the thought of explaining how everything works is exhausting.
- Maybe you just feel mentally full all the time, like there's no room left for the actual work you went into business to do.
This is what running a business on memory looks like. And discipline alone was never the problem. It's a missing system.
Systems that lift the weight off your mind.
Bakari works with solo and small business owners to build digital systems that are simple, durable, and yours. Not software you have to learn. Not folders someone else organized for you. A system that fits how you actually work, so the information your business needs lives somewhere reliable instead of in your head.
What you can expect to leave with:
A clear home for your information.
One primary place where the things that matter live. Files, contracts, client notes, passwords, financial records. No more “where did I put that” at 11pm.
A handful of documented practices.
The repeatable things you do every week, written down in a way that’s actually useful. Not a 50-page operations manual. Three to five lean documents that capture the parts of your business that currently exist only in your memory.
A continuity plan for time away.
What someone (a covering colleague, a virtual assistant, a future hire) would need to know if you weren’t available. So you can take a vacation. So you can be sick. So you can step away without the whole business holding its breath.
Time you can feel.
Most clients reclaim three to five hours per week by Day 90, time that used to go to searching, fixing, and second-guessing. When you are not wondering whether you opened the latest version or which tab you were in, even a demanding task feels lighter.
The freedom you started a business for.
The reason you went out on your own in the first place. Time for the work you actually love, headspace for the ideas you’ve been putting off, and the kind of flexibility a business is supposed to give you, not the kind that runs you instead.
Ready when you are.
What working together looks like.
Bakari’s approach is built around the realities of running a business alone. That means one-to-one sessions, not group facilitation. A pace that respects your other priorities. Lightweight systems, not enterprise overhead.
Engagements range from short diagnostic phases of a few weeks for clients who want clarity before deciding on next steps, to multi-month hands-on partnerships (typically two to four months) for clients ready to redesign their systems and build new habits, to ongoing support for clients focused on long-term sustainability. The right shape for your situation is something we’ll figure out together in your consultation.
A typical engagement includes:
- One-on-one reflective conversations to understand how you actually work
- A lean file structure and naming convention built around your real habits
- A solo-friendly playbook of the practices you'll maintain on your own
- A 90-day plan with small, achievable habits, not overwhelming overhauls
- Simple progress tracking so you can see what's changed
Bakari is platform-agnostic. If you already have software you like (or that you’re paying for and not fully using), we’ll work with what you have. If you genuinely need a new tool, we’ll talk about it. Free and low-cost options are always part of the conversation.
Tatiane Reis
Founder, Bakari Consulting
The philosophy behind Bakari.
Bakari Consulting was born when Tatiane Reis watched a small business owner become physically ill from process chaos. She’d seen the gap her whole career: consultancies that promise growth and optimization, but miss the human cost of running a business that lives entirely in your head. Platforms that sell you a tool, then leave you to figure out the rest.
Bakari is led by Tatiane Reis, a process and data specialist with cross-sector experience across private, public, and nonprofit organizations, and a PhD candidate at York University researching women’s labour. The methodology draws on Lean Management principles and a bottom-up approach, so the systems we design together actually fit how your team works.
The work isn’t to fix you. It’s to build the system that should have been there all along, grounded in how you actually work, paced for the realities of running a business solo.
Some questions you might be sitting with.
What if my business doesn't quite fit the "solopreneur" mould?
It probably still fits. Bakari works with anyone running a small operation: full-time solopreneurs, part-time founders, freelancers with a few regular clients, side businesses turning into main businesses, small corporations, partners running a growing business, and solo owners with a part-time helper or two. The common thread isn’t business structure, it’s the experience of being the only person who knows where everything lives and how it works.
Do I need to be tech-savvy to work with you?
No. A lot of the people Bakari works with feel uncertain about technical language, and that’s expected. You don’t need to know what “the cloud” is, what a CRM does, or how any specific software works before we talk. We start with where you are and build shared vocabulary as we go.
What if I don't have the budget for new software?
You don’t need to. A lot of the work is about making better use of what you already have. When new tools do make sense, free and low-cost options are always part of the conversation. We’ll only recommend something paid if it genuinely solves a problem, and never something you can’t sustain.
How much time will this take me?
Less than you’d think, but more than zero. Bakari engagements are designed around the realities of running a small business, which means short sessions, asynchronous work where possible, and a pace that respects what else is on your plate. Most clients spend about four hours per week on the work itself, plus a regular session with Tatiane.
What happens after I submit the consultation form?
Tatiane personally reviews every consultation request and gets back to you by email within three business days. You’ll hear back with either a proposed time to talk or, if Bakari isn’t the right fit for what you need, an honest note about that and a suggestion of where to look instead.
Who we are not for
Bakari is built for a particular way of working.
If you’d rather have a consultant take everything off your plate, or you want a single tool that promises to fix it all at once, or you need fast results without the reflection that makes them stick, then we may not be a good fit.
The work here asks for participation. That's what makes it last.
Ready to get your business out of your head?
The first step is a conversation. No pressure, no pitch. Just space to talk through what’s working, what isn’t, and whether Bakari is the right fit.
